Urban Gateway and Context

Salaris Transit Center is a major metropolitan gateway located in Salaryevo, at the southwestern edge of Moscow, within one of the city’s most ambitious urban expansion zones. Moscow—long the cultural and historical center of Russia—has undergone significant transformation since 2011, when plans were introduced to more than double the city’s footprint toward the south and west to accommodate growth and relieve congestion.

Located at the heart of this expansion along the Sokolnicheskaya Line, Salaryevo occupies the final stop of the metro and serves as a pivotal link between historic Moscow and its emerging urban territories. The 27.6-hectare site is situated in Moscow Oblast near Salaryevo Village, directly facing the Kievskoye Highway, offering regional accessibility while maintaining strong connectivity to the city center.

Multimodal Transportation Hub

Conceived as an integrated multimodal transportation hub, the project brings together the Salaryevo Metro Station, bus terminal, LRT and BRT systems, taxi circulation, and large-scale parking infrastructure. Beyond transit, the development functions as a multifunctional city hub, combining mobility, retail, entertainment, and civic life into a unified destination totaling approximately 2.9 million square feet.

At its core is a 111,000-square-meter retail and entertainment center housing a hypermarket, multiplex cinema, international food court, restaurants, fashion, lifestyle, and entertainment venues. Interior and exterior civic spaces are interwoven throughout the project, allowing it to operate not only as a point of arrival and departure, but as a regional gathering place.

Salaryevo Landscape

The architecture is deeply informed by the surrounding landscape. Dense woodland to the west inspires a continuous green flow that extends into plazas, parking areas, and interior public spaces. Soft curves and an undulating roofline echo the natural terrain, while sweeping roof canopies form a distinctive silhouette. The façade—composed of white, aluminum, and red metallic panels—shifts in tone throughout the day in response to light and movement.

Inside, expansive concourses are defined by dramatic skylights and bamboo ceilings that flood the interior with natural light. Natural materials and generous volumes create spaces that are both monumental and welcoming, reinforcing the project’s civic character.

Organization & Civic Identity

The development is organized into five distinct districts: Entertainment Court & Terrace, Fashion Court, Market Street, Fashion Valley, and Gateway Court & Plaza. Each zone supports a different aspect of urban life, from dining and retail to events and transit interchange. A three-level entry hall connects arriving metro passengers to an elevated civic plaza animated by restaurants, outdoor seating, markets, festivals, and public events—establishing a new town center for Salaryevo and the surrounding region.

Salaris Transit Center fulfills a critical civic role by uniting infrastructure, landscape, and public space within a single urban framework. Positioned for long-term growth, the project stands as both a transportation gateway and an iconic landmark, reflecting Moscow’s evolving commitment to connectivity, culture, and contemporary urban life.
